Following February’s great offering of games available on PlayStation Plus, in March we get a similarly impressive roster, this time including 4 games! As of today (March 2nd), players will be able to pick up RPG Final Fantasy VII Remake as well as third-person survival shooter Remnant: From the Ashes. PlayStation 5 players will also be able to get their hands on unique puzzle game Maquette and PS VR owners can also pick up VR shooter Farpoint at no extra cost!
Maquette is a first person puzzle game, exclusive to PlayStation and releasing as a part of March’s PlayStation Plus free games. I’ve only seen limited screenshots and trailers so far but it looks a nicely designed little game with fun, interactive puzzles. Maquette is published by Annapurna Interactive, the studio behind the fantastic puzzle games Donut County and What Remains of Edith Finch, so I’m confident that Maquette will turn out to be a quality game.
Final Fantasy VII Remake (PS4)
Final Fantasy VII Remake is a action role-playing game developed and published by Square Enix and is a remake of the original 1997 PlayStation game. The Final Fantasy series is hugely popular, with a number of games in the series, multiple spins offs and even an upcoming live-action adaptation! Final Fantasy VII Remake was released last year and been highly popular since its release – it sold over 3.5 million copies worldwide within three days making it the fastest-selling PS4 exclusive!
Remnant: From the Ashes (PS4)
Remnant: From the Ashes is a third-person survival action shooter and takes place in a post-apocalyptic earth, overrun by monstrous invaders. Remnant: From the Ashes is designed with co-op play in mind and you can team up with up to two survivors (sadly no local split screen) in an attempt to boost your chances of survival. Following its release in 2019, the game received generally positive reviews and borrows mechanics from the Demon’s Souls/Dark Souls series of games.
Farpoint (PS VR)
The final game in March’s selection of PlayStation Plus games is PS VR game Farpoint. Farpoint is a first-person shooter game, set on a hostile alien planet where players are tasked with gunning down alien threats. The game is optimised for the PS VR Aim controller, but is also fully playable using a DualShock controller. Farpoint looks to be one of the more immersive VR shooter’s available and with online co-op and a PvP mode, this looks like a great little VR game to pick up!
It’s great to finally get four games in one month for a change! We get a good, varied selection of games and I’m really pleased that PlayStation are providing games for not only PS4 and PS5, but also PS VR players too. It’s also encouraging to see that exclusive PlayStation games are coming directly to PlayStation Plus, which indicates to me that they are trying to compete with Xbox’s popular Game Pass and Games with Gold.
All of these games are available for PlayStation Plus members until April 5, 2021. Players can also pick up PlayStation exclusive Destruction AllStars which was released last month as apart of February’s PlayStation Plus games which is also available until April 5.
