What to watch this weekend: 16th-18th April 2021

Earth Moods Disney+ begins streaming April 16

Time seems to be absolutely flying by in 2021 – how are we half-way through April already?! This weekend, there are limited new releases available for home streaming, however I’ve picked out a few highlights including a new National Geographic series as well as an Oscar nominated movie.

Earth Moods

Earth Moods is a Disney+ original series ‘taking viewers on the ultimate retreat – transporting them to an array of colourful and calming corners of the world’. The series is produced by National Geographic and the trailer showcases some absolutely stunning shots of our natural world – just in time for Earth Day on the 22nd April!

Where to watch: Disney+ (releases April 16th)

Love and Monsters

There are oddly no new releases to Netflix this weekend, however one movie which did become available earlier this week which may have slipped under your radar is adventure comedy film, Love and Monsters. The film is set seven years after a Monsterpocalypse and the whole concept looks absolutely brilliant.

Where to watch: Netflix (available to stream now)

Sound of Metal

Another movie which was released earlier this week rather than at the weekend (don’t ask me why!) is the highly accredited film, Sound of Metal. Sound of Metal follows a heavy-metal drummer as his life is turned upside down as he begins to lose his hearing. The film has already won numerous awards and looks like a compelling watch.

Where to watch: Amazon Prime Video (available to stream now)

Leonardo

An Amazon Prime Video exclusive series, Leonardo is an eight-part episode drama series following Leonardo da Vinci’s life, work and personal struggles. Starring Aidan Turner as Leonardo da Vinci and set in a Renaissance Italy, the series explores the genius behind one of the most famous historical figures of all time.
