What to watch this weekend: 23rd-25th April 2021

After the disappointing lack of new releases last weekend, this weekend we are blessed with a number of new releases including the highly anticipated Netflix series Shadow and Bone and the season finale of Marvel’s The Falcon and The Winter Soldier.

Stowaway

Stowaway is a science-fiction thriller film starring Anna Kendrick, Daniel Dae Kim, Shamier Anderson and Toni Collette. The film follows the crew of a spaceship heading to Mars and as a stowaway is discovered on board the ship and with resources quickly dwindling, the crew must decide on their course of action. If you’re fan of films like The Martian and Gravity, then Stowaway could just be the sci-fi film to watch this weekend!

Shadow and Bone

Shadow and Bone is a Netflix original fantasy series, based on the novels written by American author Leigh Bardugo. The Shadow and Bone novel has a humungous fanbase and it’s safe to say fans have been eagerly anticipating the release of Netflix’s adaptation of the series. Early reviews of the series have drawn comparisons to other popular fantasy shows including Game of Thrones and The Witcher!

The Falcon and the Winter Soldier Episode 6

The final episode of the brilliant Marvel original series The Falcon and The Winter Soldier airs this weekend and if you’ve been keeping up with the series, you do not want to miss the hotly anticipated season finale! With the recent success of the Marvel’s WandaVision and the reception The Falcon and The Winter Soldier has received so far, it’s safe to say Marvel are mastering these big-budget miniseries’.

Chick Fight

Chick Fight is an action-comedy film starring Malin Åkerman, Bella Thorne and Alec Baldwin. The film follows an all-female, underground fight club and whilst the film has received some mixed reviews since its release in the USA in November, it’s about time we had an all-female rendition of a fight club!

Any Earth based documentary!

22nd of April marks the 51st anniversary of Earth Day, an international event celebrated around the world in support of environmental protection. There are a number of fantastic documentaries available across all of the top streaming services and I have picked out some of the best here. Why not watch one these documentaries over the weekend and get inspired to protect the Earth?
