What to watch this weekend: 14th-16th May 2021

This weekend there are a host of new releases available across all of your favourite streaming services. I’ve picked out some of this weekend’s highlights including a new Netflix series starring Ewan McGregor, as well as the latest High School Musical series to hit Disney+.

Halston Season 1

Halston is a Netflix original series following iconic American fashion designer Halston, as he skyrockets to fame before his life starts to spin out of control. Ewan McGregor plays the titular character Halston and it will be fantastic to get a glimpse of him before Disney+’s upcoming Obi-Wan Kenobi series, set for release next year.

The Woman in the Window

The Woman in the Window as a Netflix exclusive psychological thriller film following an agoraphobic psychologist who befriends a neighbour across the street, only to see her disappear and have her life flipped upside down. With an all-star cast starring Amy Adams, Gary Oldman, Anthony Mackie and Julianne Moore, The Woman in the Window looks absolutely thrilling.

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series season 2

High School Musical: The Musical: The Series is back for a second season this Friday, with new episodes released every following Friday. In the second season, the theatre students of East High stage a production of Beauty and the Beast for the spring musical.

The Underground Railroad: Season 1

The Underground Railroad is an Amazon original series based on the novel of the same name by Colson Whitehead. The series is set in an alternate timeline, where a network of abolitionists, hidden routes and safe houses help enslaved African-Americans escape to freedom in the early to mid-1800s.
