What to watch this weekend: 23rd-25th July 2021

Turner & Hooch Official Trailer thumbnail

This weekend there are a host of new releases available across all of your favourite streaming services. I’ve picked out some of this weekend’s highlights including a unique reality dating show on Netflix, as well as a Disney+ series looking at the magic behind some of Disney’s most popular theme park attractions.

Sexy Beasts

Sexy Beasts is Netflix’s latest attempt at reinventing reality dating shows. Sexy Beasts is unique in the sense that a group of single people sport elaborate makeup and prosthetics to put true blind-dating to the test. Whilst reality TV isn’t exactly my cup of tea, the prospect of a dating show based solely on personality rather than looks seems a lot better than some of the other superficial crap we’ve seen in recent years (although don’t get me wrong, the trailer does look super creepy!)!

Where to watch: Netflix (available to stream now)

Turner & Hooch

Turner & Hooch is a Disney+ original series following a U.S. Marshal as he inherits an unruly dog named Hooch, as they team up to solve various crimes. The series is a continuation of the 1989 film of the same name which starred Tom Hanks. The television series stars Josh Peck, Lyndsy Fonseca, Carra Patterson, Vanessa Lengies and of course a French Mastiff!

Behind the Attraction

Behind the Attraction is the latest Disney+ series which explores the magic behind some of Disney’s most popular theme park attractions. Produced by Dwayne Johnson, the series explores how Disney Imagineers brought the likes of Jungle Cruise and Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to life. If the series is anything like The Magic of Disney’s Animal Kingdom, then I’m sure we are in for a treat!

Where to watch: Disney+ (available to stream now)

Indiana Jones

The Indiana Jones saga arrives to Amazon Prime Video this weekend, with the timeless original trilogy available to stream, as well as the somewhat controversial fourth film; Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. With a fifth Indiana Jones film currently in production and set to be released later next year, the franchise couldn’t arrive at a better time.

Where to watch: Amazon Prime Video (available to stream 24th July)
