There’s little choice when it comes to new releases this weekend, but I’ve picked out some of the weekend’s highlights including a thrilling new Netflix original series, as well as an absolutely crazy narcos vs zombies eight-part series from Amazon Prime Video!
Vivo
Vivo is the latest animated musical comedy film to come from Sony Pictures Animation and Netflix. The film follows a music-loving kinkajou (also known as the “honey bear”) who embarks on the journey of a lifetime to try and fulfil his destiny. Netflix have actually gone under the radar these past few years in distributing some fantastic animated movies and I’m eager to see how Vivo compares!

Hit & Run
Hit & Run is a Netflix original series which follows a man who searches for the truth behind his wife’s death. He soon becomes caught up in an intricate web of secrets which take him across the globe. The trailer for the series looks brilliant and has a sense of Taken about it! The action thriller stars Lior Raz, Sanaa Lathan and Gregg Henry.

SOZ: Soldados o Zombies
SOZ: Soldados o Zombies is an eight-part thriller series which sees a new breed of zombies face off against one of the most wanted drug lords in Mexico. The whole concept sounds absolutely crazy and the trailer looks mind-blowing! Time will tell whether the narcos vs zombies combination works or not, but I’m definitely intrigued by the fusion.

Cruel Summer: Season 1
Cruel Summer is an American teen drama thriller series which follows two teenage girls in the 1990s, of which one is kidnapped and the other seemingly takes her place. The series was released in the US earlier this year and the overall reception was fairly positive. The series stars Olivia Holt, Chiara Aurelia, Froy Gutierrez and Harley Quinn Smith.
